Newsletter / Substack sponsorships

The brand pays for sponsorship placement (banner ad, dedicated section, or full-takeover edition) in a creator-authored newsletter sent to an engaged email or Substack list.

How it works

Brand identifies relevant creator newsletters (Lenny's, Morning Brew co-sponsorships, niche Substacks). Pays per send / per impression / per click. Sponsor copy is creator-authored or brand-supplied. Most common as ongoing flights of 4-12 sends.

When to use it

Open rates and reading attention on newsletters are higher than social. Best for B2B SaaS, premium DTC, and considered-purchase categories. Use when target audience reads category newsletters at scale.

Business-type fit

The same play works differently depending on the business. Here is what it looks like in each one, and what it gets you.

Business typeHow it's implementedWhat it gets you

How it shows up in the data

This is what the play leaves behind on the platforms. These are the signals we use to detect it.

Invisible in social-feed audit data. Ad creative library may carry newsletter-style screenshots used as ad creatives.

Almost never visible in tagged-influencer or ad-library data. Flag as a gap based on category fit, not data signal.
